Recently the new UCY (University Of Cyprus) has opened its gates to students and the public. One of the biggest projects ever made in Cyprus the new Library is a masterpiece of design and architecture.
The whole project takes the form of an artificial hill. The library is composed by a 5 level building (basement, ground floor and three floors) covering a total area of approximately 15,700 m2.
The project was designed by the famous French architect Jean Nouvel
On 19th of November the last books from the old UCY library have been transferred. The idea was to create a chain of people transferring the books hand by hand from one library to the other. The event was called “Chain of Knowledge”
That was a great opportunity for me to pack my gear and head of to the new library and get some shots of this historical event. At the same time knowing that this library would be an architectural masterpiece I could not lose this chance being the first to photo shoot the new library.
I knew from the beginning that photos should be black and white giving a more dramatic look to the interior of the library. Best lens choice was so sure a wide angle lens since the building within is breath taking
